Manchester City and Manchester United reportedly fear that Liverpool will win the race to sign Florian Wirtz next year.
According to the Daily Star, the Reds’ interest in the Bayer Leverkusen star has changed the dynamic of the transfer battle for the £80m-rated youngster, with Jurgen Klopp’s side having an edge in any deal.
As per the report, the Liverpool manager’s contacts in Germany as well as his reputation in the Bundesliga could be enough to swing the transfer in Liverpool’s favour.
As a result, Liverpool could now find themselves as favourites to sign Wirtz, who could be a dream replacement for Mohamed Salah in 2024.
The attacking midfielder has bagged six goals and nine assists already in all competitions this season, and Liverpool could be a logical next step for the 20-year-old.
Indeed, City and United could also be good moves for Wirtz, but there’s no denying that Liverpool might be the best transfer the youngster can make next year.
