“Agreement already reached” – Liverpool claim a contract with star is in place, and president urged to keep player.

We reported earlier this week from Italy that Liverpool are interested in Napoli star Victor Osimhen.

The striker’s contract expires in 2025, and Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has hinted that he may reconsider signing a new agreement.

According to Italian journalist Valter De Maggio, as related by Area Napoli, Liverpool are the reason for the 24-year-old’s change of heart.

De Maggio believes that due of the Reds’ interest, both the frontman and his agent, Roberto Calenda, have decided against signing an extension with the Naples club.

He goes on to say that Liverpool have reached an agreement with the player and that a contract with the Serie A champions must be reached before the transfer can take place.

The parties had reached an agreement for the renewal, but Calenda and Osimhen broke their promise. What occurred? Another club from the Premier League was added. “I’m referring to Liverpool,” he explained.

“There would be frequent contacts, but I just learned something else: agreements would already be in place.” Let me clarify: the agreements would be between the Reds and the player, thus Napoli would not be involved. We can only hope that Laurentiis will be able to maintain Victor Osimhen until June.”

It remains to be seen whether De Maggio’s assertion about Liverpool will be supported by other Italian media outlets.

The Nigeria international joined the Italian champions from Lille in 2020, and Liverpool was interested in signing him during the same window. Calenda, his agent, then divulged this.

Last season, Osimhen scored 31 goals and had five assists to help Napoli win the league. This season, he has six goals and an assist in ten games.
