Philippe Clement can make big Rangers statement as Manchester United transfer news emerges

But new players may be needed in order to sustain the pressure on Brendan Rodgers’s men, particularly if the injury issues continue at Ibrox.

And one player that Rangers could turn to is Manchester United youngster Adam Berry, who has been offered a trial by the Scottish giants, according to the Scottish Sun (31 October).

The 17-year-old has previously been handed places in the England Under-16s and Under-17s squads, and undoubtedly has several admirers.

The Scottish Sun added that Berry’s future at Manchester United is unclear, which should give the Gers plenty of confidence regarding his potential signature.

And if they do manage to persuade the teenager to come to Ibrox, it would be a real statement from Clement and indeed the club, who would be proving that they can mix it with the big boys when it comes to the transfer window.

Historically, such transfers have been the other way around, with the likes of Nathan Patterson and Billy Gilmour leaving Rangers for pastures new in recent times
