Breaking News: Glen Kamara call by Rangers correct despite Leeds Utd impact…..

Michael Beale was allowed to spend the money that he made in the summer with the late departure of Glen Kamara from Rangers making up the bulk of the income.

Before the season had officially ended, on duty with Finland, the midfielder was referring to his time in Glasgow in the past tense and it seemed like a move was imminent.

There was plenty of speculation but, a move to Leeds United, where he has hit the ground running, went close to the deadline but Glen Kamara’s current form doesn’t mean that Rangers made a mistake.

Glen Kamara was Rangers right call despite Leeds form

We saw, predominantly, in the Europa League, how good a player the 27-yearold could be.

In Old Firm derbies, during Steven Gerrard’s tenure, he was also a regular success story.

After seeing close friends Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo leave after the 2022 season, Glen Kamara just didn’t seem to be the same player for Rangers.

Almost as if he had been told that he too would be allowed to leave.

Last season, he looked disinterested to the extent that Michael Beale built him up on his return to the club only to realise that his levels were nowhere near what they had been previously.

For all that some fans would have happily driven him down to Leeds, as an international football with over 50 caps and a host of big game performances in Europe, Rangers were always going to ask for a sizeable fee.

At a reported £5m, it might not have been as high as previous valuations such as last summer when Nice were linked with a £10m bid but, considering how much Steven Gerrard paid for him, it was a good deal all round.

It is revisionist to say that we shouldn’t have sold him because he is playing now.

The Glen Kamara that played well for Rangers hadn’t been seen for a season and it was clear that he didn’t want to stay at the club.

What he is though, is the perfect example of the player trading model of buy low and sell high.
