Breaking News: Cleveland browns fire head coach and general manager for Misconduct

The Las Vegas Raiders were the first team to make a change at head coach, but they went beyond just that one move on Wednesday morning.

The team announced that it has not only fired head coach Josh McDaniels, but also general manager Dave Ziegler. They promoted linebackers coach Antonio Pierce to interim head coach and assistant GM Champ Kelly will serve as interim GM.

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated also reported that the Raiders have fired offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi.

McDaniels was 9-16 as the head coach of the Raiders. They lost to the Bears, 30-12, in Week 7 followed by a 26-14 loss in Detroit on Monday night. Las Vegas is ranked 30th in the NFL in scoring offense (15.8 points per game).

The Raiders hired McDaniels in 2022, 12 years after his last season as a head coach, which came in Denver. He didn’t make it through two seasons with the Broncos, going 11-17 in 28 games before being fired with four games left in the 2010 season.

Like McDaniels, the Raiders hired Ziegler to be their GM in 2022 after serving as the Patriots’ director of player personnel.

Pierce’s first game as interim head coach will come on Sunday vs. the team he won a Super Bowl with in the Giants.
