Sheffield, Key As the Blades’ season continues to deteriorate, a United player departs the West Ham defeat on crutches.

Losing one of their most important players might make Sheffield United’s poor start to the Premier League season even worse.

Following Newcastle United’s 8-0 thrashing last season, captain John Egan hobbled out in the 2-0 loss at West Ham. This result keeps the winless Blades at the bottom of the Premier League standings.

The defender left the London Stadium using crutches after landing awkwardly at a corner.

Paul Heckingbottom, the manager, stated: “We want to learn as soon as possible because going off he didn’t look well.

Although they couldn’t have been worse, the Blades did at least improve from their 8-0 home loss to Newcastle six days earlier. After 24 minutes, England aspirant Jarrod Bowen scored by perfectly timing his run into the box and finishing Vladimir Coufal’s low cross.
