Pontus Jansson, a former member of Leeds United, has been suspended after an alleged confrontation with a doping control officer. The defender presently plays for his boyhood club, Malmo FF, although he will miss their upcoming games due to a two-match suspension. The punishment is in response to claims that Jansson insulted and improperly addressed a doping control official and violated orders when he was chosen for a drug test following a game. Malmo contested the ruling, claiming that certain details of the incident weren’t accurately recorded. But because the punishment was maintained, the ex-Leeds player will be unable to play in tonight’s match against Brommapojkarna and the subsequent match against Kalmar FF the following weekend. Sports director Daniel Andersson expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision in a statement posted on Malmo’s website: “Over the years, we have been involved in a lot of doping controls that have been carried out without difficulties. This time, the organization was a little different than usual, and there were several misunderstandings that, in our opinion, might have been avoided with greater communication and leadership from the controllers. Having said that, Malmö FF could have and should have behaved considerably more positively. And in our opinion, the same holds true for individuals in charge of the control.
