Wrexham AFC Women vs Cardiff City Women

Wrexham AFC Women return home this weekend to face Cardiff City, with Steve Dale’s side hoping to maintain their lead in the Genero Adran Premier league.

The Bluebirds are the reigning Genero Adran Premier winners, having gone unbeaten during the 2022/23 season.

They have yet to lose a league match this season and now sit in third position on seven points, with Wrexham and Aberystwyth Town only ahead due to superior goal difference.

Cardiff won 3-1 against Cardiff Met on the first day of the season before settling for a point in a 0-0 draw with Aberystwyth Town.

Despite this, they reacted in spectacular fashion last weekend, defeating The New Saints 3-1 to re-establish their title hopes.

Darbyshire has extensive experience in the Welsh Women’s game, having served as the head coach of Cardiff City since the 2019/20 season. During that time, he has overseen significant progress and led the Bluebirds to their first league title since 2014. He has also led the Bluebirds to back-to-back FAW Women’s Cup victories, as well as appearances in the 2023 and 2022 Adran Trophy finals. Along with his first-team duties, the Bluebirds’ head coach was later hired as their head of womens and girls football
