Talksport update: Jack Butland made undisputed as Rangers stopper tops the charts….

The competition to see who Rangers signing of the summer is isn’t exactly a tough one with only Jack Butland laying claim to having been an unparalleled success.

Abdallah Sima, who has already been considered for a permanent move, is starting to contribute on a regular basis but he still has games when he can be inconsistent, the former England international, on the other hand, has been near faultless.

He passes more than the eye test too with the Scottish Premiership’s goalkeeping statistics provided by Fotmob showing that Rangers have the safest pair of hands in Jack Butland.

Rangers have Scotland’s number one in Jack Butland

After 11 games of the league campaign, the 30-year old stopper already has seven clean sheets to his name with a chart topping save percentage of 77.8%, and there is little he could have done with the goals that have been conceded.

What is more encouraging is that he seems Allan McGregor like in being able to have nothing to do all game before producing the goods when it matters most.

Against Dundee, with the score at 2-0, the next goal was either going to see Rangers kill the game or put it on a knife edge but Jack Butland stepped up with a stunning double save.

The first, was a deflected long range effort that saw an instant change of direction followed by a brave reaction save at the feet of a Dundee forward.

On a free transfer, Rangers have won a watch with Jack Butland.

He has a commanding presence and a calming authority on the defence.

Set pieces are no longer as frantic and he is coming through traffic to relieve the pressure from his back four.

It’s no wonder that there has already been interest in him.

There are plenty of Premier League clubs that could do with a player of Jack Butland’s calibre but he seems happy to have found a club that suits his needs and what he wants to achieve.

Thankfully, for now, he’s going nowhere.
