Talksport Report: All eyes on £7m Rangers Man of the Moment on return to Prague

All eyes on £7m Rangers Man of the Moment on return to Prague

As Rangers prepare a Europa League visit to Sparta Prague, all eyes appear to be transfixed on ex-Slavia man and Brighton loanee Abdallah Sima.

The fact that the Senegalese international, 22, used to play for Sparta’s rivals is however only a subplot to what has been an extraordinary run of form for the attacker.

How Saudi Arabia BOUGHT The FIFA World Cup

Abdallah Sima has now scored in his last five Rangers games, warming up for this clash with Sparta Prague with goals eight and nine for the season in the 4-0 win over Hibs.

It’s earned Abdallah Sima plaudits aplenty, with the likes of Rangers manager Philippe Clement and Ibrox skipper James Tavernier lauding the attacker’s potential this week.

Former Brighton coach Billy Reid branded the forward “explosive” whilst Sparta Prague manager Brian Priske singled out the star ahead of his return to Czechia.

Sparta Prague too know all about the exploits of Abdallah Sima from his time with that controversial if not talented Slavia side, who actually faced Rangers with the Senegalese attacker in a Europa League shame game in 2021.

In his only showing in the Prague derby – having only spent one full season with Slavia – Abdallah Sima stunned Sparta with a deadly double in a 3-0 win in the very stadium he will play tonight back in December 2020.

That is part of the reason why Brighton paid a reported £7m to sign Abdallah Sima at the end of the 2021 season and Rangers fans are already hoping the Premier League side will play ball on the loan deal

Whilst it’s clear there is no permanent option in the attacker’s loan contract, Abdallah Sima is already making a big impression in Glasgow and fans are hoping it continues against Sparta Prague.

It might be Philippe Clement’s first Europa League game in charge, it might also be a crucial match in the outcome of Group C, but the lead up has been dominated by one man and one man alone.

Having quietly kicked off his Rangers career, the club’s supporters may well be seeing the beginning of a phenomenal talent being realised with Brighton’s famous transfer dealings very rarely failing to land.

Don’t bet against the man making it six in a row for Rangers on his return to Zlatá Praha.
