News Update: Rangers Key Star makes Rangers decision with priority explanation….

Steven Davis is a Rangers legend, a player who has won silverware for the club in what seems like two different eras, representing the club in every appearance with the sort of stature that Richard Gough would be proud of.

Second time around, since Steven Gerrard brought him back to Ibrox in 2019, he has remained the standard by which the other midfielders in the squad need to aspire to.

Unfortunately, when Philippe Clement could do with a player like Steven Davis, the former Rangers interim manager faces an uncertain future.

Michael Beale spoke during his tenure as manager about the possibility of the Northern Ireland captain having his contract as a player extended

There has never been any contract announcement one way or the other but, the ex-Gers boss was clear in that Davis, who was on a reported £8,000 per week, will be allowed to complete his rehabilitation at the club.

Steven Davis explains why he has made Rangers decision

Steven Davis is a man of integrity and the Rangers hall of fame member has decided that he has to reassess his priorities, as told to the club’s media team:

“The manager has been great and dealing with him, it was great to work alongside him for a couple of weeks and see his ideas and then ultimately for me I had a decision to make in terms of my knee.

First and foremost I am kind of 11 months into rehab, albeit the last few weeks have been a bit of a write off because of obviously doing the other side and the other role.

“Ultimately my knee is not where I would like it to be and I think it is imperative that I try and get that right.

“I am old in terms of the playing side of things but young in terms of life, hopefully wherever my career takes me in the future wherever that be coaching, management or playing it is really imperative that I get my knee right.

“I am still at a stage where I am not able to sort of play with the kids in the garden, play football with my son. It is really important that I get that right.
