The Miami Heat were in the headlines on a weekly basis during the NBA offseason, with everyone expecting Pat Riley and company to eventually acquire superstar guard Damian Lillard in a blockbuster trade with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Lillard let it be known on more than one occasion that he wanted to play for the Heat if he was going to be traded by the Blazers, but that didn’t turn out to be the case as he was dealt to the Milwaukee Bucks to play with Giannis Antetokounmpo instead.

Lillard let it be known on more than one occasion that he wanted to play for the Heat if he was going to be traded by the Blazers, but that didn’t turn out to be the case as he was dealt to the Milwaukee Bucks to play with Giannis Antetokounmpo instead.

Although that’s not a bad move for Lillard as he has a chance to compete for a title for the next few years of his career, especially after Antetokounmpo agreed to a contract extension, the Heat were left with nothing while the heavyweights in the Eastern Conference were able to improve their rosters considerably.

Even though the Heat missed out on acquiring Lillard and weren’t able to get their hands on Jrue Holiday when he became available, Jimmy Butler and company seem content with what the team has and are ready to get back to work, as he made clear on his Instagram account via ClutchPoints.

As of right now, the Bucks and Boston Celtics are expected to be the cream of the crop in the East after the moves they made in the offseason, but the Heat always seem to be the giant killers in the conference and aim to do the same again this season.

Only time will tell if Butler and company can do what they did last year and make it back to the NBA Finals, as the odds are against them once again.
