Reports state that Real Madrid are prepared to pay a massive fee to sign Trent Alexander Arnold.
On Sunday, a report from Fichajes in Spain claimed that the Scouser is seen as a natural successor to Dani Carvajal.
The Spaniard is out of contract in June 2025 and so this summer is the last chance for president Florentino Perez to get a fee for the fullback after his ten-year spell at the club.
The report states: An offer of €80 million (£70m) “would keep the British player away from that contract renewal with Liverpool that seemed to be closed a few weeks ago.”
In September, a report claimed that Liverpool are prepared to pay Trent Alexander-Arnold £1 million per month to sign a contract extension
Carlo Ancelotti has personally given the “go-head” for the Real Madrid board to proceed with a bid to sign Alexander-Arnold in the summer.
He will “probably not” remain as the coach next season but wanted to give his blessing to the signing of the Liverpool fullback to further future-proof the Spanish club.
Madrid’s offer of €80 million (£70m) seems quite low given how Trent has proven himself to be a world -class, if not generational, talent in his short career so far. With many years ahead of him, he seems to promise only more incredible performances.
The 25-year-old has just been made vice-captain and is currently in contract talks to extend his stay with the club into his late twenties.
There is little to no hard evidence to suggest the fullback is considering leaving his boyhood club.
The one aspect you can never ignore is that it’s Real Madrid.
The La Liga outfit boasts the likes of Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo but it’s not so bad at Liverpool.
It’s not as though Trent isn’t already surrounded by top players himself with Jurgen Klopp’s squad just a few finishing touches away from being quite something. As it is, the Reds are enjoying the 2023/24 season so far.
And at he’s got the opportunity for something truly special at Anfield…
