Deal Agreed: Premier League club Agreed £100m for Rangers to land Brentford winger Ahead January transfer….

Premier League Brentford want £100m for once Rangers-linked England striker Ivan Toney.

That’s according to Sky Sports, who claim Brentford will only sell the striker once his ban for betting offences ends in January if a fee reaches nine figures.

According to the report, earlier suggestions of a £65m valuation were even met with “derision” from Brentford board members.

Also mentioning the apparent interest of Arsenal and Chelsea in Ivan Toney, it’s been a monumental rise for the Brentford striker who might’ve wound up at Rangers if things went differently.

Whilst at the time Old Firm rivals Celtic appeared to be frontrunners to sign the then Peterborough striker, Ivan Toney claims he actually visited Rangers to discuss a move.

Speaking to Steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO, the talented striker claims that he might’ve even signed on at Rangers under Steven Gerrard back in 2020 had it not been for the competition.

Rangers had Alfredo Morelos in the club’s ranks whilst Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten suggested competition would be fierce.

“I did speak to other clubs (before moving to Brentford,” said Toney. “I actually went up to Rangers. I spoke with the manager there, which was Steven Gerrard at the time.

They had two strikers at the time and they were looking to get another one in, so that would have been like four strikers and the formation they played, the majority of the time, was one striker up top.”

Ivan Toney would then move to Brentford – then in the English Championship – and the rest is history.

Rangers fans reading about those whopping £100m valuations may well be left thinking what might’ve been.

Whilst we don’t think Rangers could boast such a substantial transfer demand, there are several big moments over the years which have missed the golden touch of a top class hitman.

Could one player currently in the Rangers squad be that man?

Firing the club to English Premier League promotion in his first season, Ivan Toney has now scored 68 goals for the Bees, including 32 in the English top flight.
