Johnly Yfeko has committed his future to Rangers by penning a contract extension
The versatile defender was given a taste of first team action under previous boss Michael Beale earlier this season. The 20-year-old was deployed lat left back during a 201 Viaplay Cup win over Greenock Morton. However, he’s since returned to the B team fold, making most of his appearances in the Lowland League and Challenge Cup.
Philippe Clement looked like being short of left back options after Borna Barisic picked up an injury and Ridvan Yilmaz left out of the Europa League squad by Beale. But Barisic is now back playing, meaning Yfeko must wait for more top team exposure. The club are confident in his ability to make the step up however, and have handed him a new deal until the summer of 2026. Academy director Zeb Jacobs was appointed in the summer and tying down Yfeko is part of his vision of the future for Gers’ young stars, with Ross McAusland reportedly next in line for an extended stay in Govan.
