BBC Confirmed: Philippe Clement predicts Rangers electricity from Rabbi Matondo in new role as boss delivers 3 injury updates….

Philippe Clement has revealed Nicolas Raskin remains on the sidelines for for Rangers ahead of their trip to face Aberdeen, but Rabbi Matondo could be set for a new role at Ibrox.

And the Belgian boss is also without another midfield man with Scotland star Ryan Jack a doubt for the trip to face Barry Robson’s men. Rangers lost to the Dons earlier in their Scottish Premiership campaign in a game that would signal the end for Michael Beale’s tenure at Ibrox, but the contingent in Govan have something to smile about with Clement unbeaten since his arrival in post.

On the injury front, not so smiley as luckless Kemar Roofe, who has made only brief returns to action since the summer, is also working along the recovery trail according to the Ibrox gaffer. But the Belgian seems to have found a different kind of answer to attacking options as he put his faith in winger Matondo to bring ‘electricity’ to his front line.

He said: “Rabbi Matondo can play also central, and played well in Belgium as a second striker. He is an electric player, so fast one-on-one. He is coming back from an injury so we can’t expect his highest level from the first minute he plays, he has to build back up.”

On injuries, he added: “Raskin still out, Jack is doubtful for Sunday. Roofe is starting to train with the team in full sessions a couple days a week, the rest of the squad trained as normal. Nico will return in the next couple of weeks, not a major issue now.

“It’s important to keep everyone fit. We need all the players to show they are ready with the fixtures we have. I’m satisfied with the level of training and the satisfaction and dedication. There has been the same amount of work during the international break but in different ways to busy match weeks.”
