“Important Deal” – Spurs enter “intense” transfer talks for defender

The north Londoners are starting to turn things around, although Micky van de Ven, the summer’s best signing, is still out through injury.

His hamstring problem, coupled with Cristian Romero’s recent suspension, took a serious dent in Spurs’ form last month – but manager Ange Postecoglou now appears to have found a winning formula. Romero is back on the pitch, alongside Ben Davies, with Tottenham now winning back-to-back Premier League games for the first time since October. Their 2-0 away win at Nottingham Forest and 4-1 defeat to Newcastle last weekend gave them something to rely on in the absence of key players like van de Ven. However, Postecoglou continues to publicly insisting that Spurs need to sign a new defender. “He did very well,” Postecoglou said of Davies, who later called for a new option at centre-back (via football.london).”Central defender is still a position where, especially in our structure, it is one of the few roles where we need guys with very good qualities. We were lucky that he was able to come in for us there. He is very good at absorbing information and he really understands the match, not only his own role but also how we want to play and this helped him, having Romero next to him helps in this sense and Vic because he is a bit of a protagonist has taken on a role there again. In the end we still have to get a central defender, because right now we are a bit tense, because if something were to happen again, we won’t be up to it and we already will be.”There have been plenty of defenders linked with a move to Spurs lately, but perhaps the most mentioned name this week is Genoa star Radu Dragusin. The Romanian’s agent, Florin Manea, also recently confirmed Tottenham’s approach. Manea claims Spurs are among the teams interested in Dragusin, with a report from Fanatik sharing a promising update. According to information provided by Cristi Conte, Tottenham are in “intense” negotiations for Dragusin, who is also “very close” to a move to the Premier League. The transfer would be worth around £26 million, with Conte sharing “important information” on the matter. “We have important information about domestic players,” said the Fanatik correspondent.“Let’s try to be clear. Radu Drăgușin is close to a move to the Premier League, 30 million euro transfer to Tottenham. Spurs really need a central defender, negotiations are intense. Radu Drăgușin to Tottenham, 30 million euros. The 21-year-old has been a mainstay for Genoa manager Alberto Gilardino and is arguably one of the most exciting defenders in Serie A at the moment. £26 million is also a very affordable figure from Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s point of view, with journalist Mazhar Abbas describing Dragusin as a “rising star”.
