He’s Fit: ‘Fantastic’ Tottenham player now set to return to training within two weeks…

Ryan Sessegnon could reportedly be set to return to Tottenham Hotspur training within the next couple of weeks.

That’s according to Football.London, with the outlet sharing a fresh update on the defender’s fitness.

It’s fair to say that Ryan Sessegnon has been unfortunate with injuries during his spell at Tottenham.

The 23-year-old made the switch to North London from Fulham for a fee worth £25 million back in the summer of 2019.

He was widely viewed as one of England’s most exciting prospects at the time after impressing at Craven Cottage. But his progress at Spurs has been hampered by persistent hamstring injuries.

The Englishman hasn’t featured under Ange Postecoglou this season as he’s been ruled out since February with yet another hamstring issue.

Yet, it seems he’s finally nearing a return to training as he ramps up his recovery.

Football.London reports that Sessegnon is edging towards the ‘latter stages’ of his rehabilitation.

It’s noted following surgery on his hamstring back in July, there is hope this will finally fix his problems with the recurring injury.

Indeed, Sessegnon could return to training with the group within two weeks but Spurs will be ‘ultra-cautious’ to avoid any further setbacks.

Sessegnon featured fairly regularly under Antonio Conte and nailed down his place in the Italian’s side during the 2021-22 campaign. His game time was impacted by the arrival of Ivan Perisic last summer but his progress has mainly been hampered by persistent injuries.

He’s been described as a ‘fantastic’ talent but he’s yet to produce on a consistent basis at Tottenham.

It will be intriguing to see if he fits into Postecoglou’s plans as he’s mainly played as a wing-back in his career.

Destiny Udogie has also nailed down the left-back position for the time being but Sessegnon could provide decent cover should he avoid any further hamstring injuries.
