Just In: New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson Is 2024 All-Star Game Starter…

Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks has shown a strong case to be included in the starting lineup for the Eastern Conference in the Indianapolis, Indiana, NBA All-Star Game of 2024.

In February, Jalen Brunson believes he is meant to play in his first NBA All-Star game. However, if he maintains his early furious pace, the starting point guard for the New York Knicks may be in line for a bigger honor.

For the NBA’s winter exhibition in Indianapolis, where teams will once again play each other in conferences, Brunson is putting up a compelling case to be included in the Eastern starting five. In his second season with the Knicks, the 27-year-old is possibly playing the greatest basketball of his career. Following Friday’s victory over Toronto, the team is five games above.500 for the first time this season. Although Brunson is averaging 24.9 points and 5.5 assists through 19 games, his total shooting percentage of 46 percent from the field is very noteworthy.

A 47 percent mark from three-point range is likely the most valuable part of his game: not only is Brunson sixth in the NBA in that regard but he’s the only member of the current top 10 to try at least 100.

Although Brunson has a good argument to start for the All-Star team, there are a lot of players in the East’s backcourt. Tyrese Haliburton, who was Brunson’s American teammate in the Basketball World Cup this summer, along with Tyrese Maxey and LaMelo Ball, have all argued that they should be included in the five. The Eastern backcourt representatives included Donovan Mitchell and Kyri Irving (since traded to Dallas), along with Haliburton, Jaylen Brown, DeMar DeRozan, and Jrue Holiday. Last year’s game was the final of six played under a “draft” format.

On Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET on MSG/TNT, the Knicks (12-7) take on the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA In-Season Tournament’s knockout phase, Brunson will have another opportunity to win over potential voters.
