Breaking News: Newcastle United Join The Scramble For Borussia Dortmund Star

In a recent report, The Mirror mentioned that Newcastle United have joined the race to recruit Borussia Dortmund ace Julian Brandt. It is understood that the Magpies could face competition from Arsenal and Liverpool in pursuit of the German attacker.

Brandt is having an excellent campaign at Signal Iduna Park as he has put in a run of impressive displays for Dortmund in the final third. The German tJulian Brandtalent has found the back of the net on six occasions and earned five assists in 16 appearances for his current employers this season across all fronts.

The 27-year-old has been a consistent performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 1.5 shots, 2.5 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from midfield after making 83.3% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).

Brandt is under contract at the German club until the summer of 2026. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Magpies to sign him on the cheap when the transfer window reopens at the start of January.

Brandt is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball in the final third. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in the opponent’s half.

The German sensation is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also function as a winger on either flank if asked to do so by his manager. He has all the skillset to be a success story at Newcastle United.

We can expect Brandt to add plenty of firepower to Eddie Howe’s frontline. Therefore, he would be a great choice for the Magpies to pursue this winter or at the end of this campaign.

At 27, Brandt is about to enter his prime and could be a real asset in Howe’s squad at the Tyneside club. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in English football.
