The Miami Dolphins signed outside linebacker Melvin Ingram, a three-time Pro Bowl player who played in 17 games for the team last season, to the practice squad on Thursday.

He also forced a fumble and recovered two.He can help as an asset for Miami’s defense, which lost outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips when he tore his Achilles on Nov. 24 against the New York Jets. The Dolphins are signing Andrew Van Ginkel and adding veteran defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul to the active roster following Phillips’ season-ending injury.Ingram made the Pro Bowl in 2017-19 while playing for the Chargers, who selected him 18th overall in the 2012 NFL Draft out of South Carolina.He played for the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers (2012-20), Pittsburgh Steelers (2021), Kansas City Chiefs (2021) and Dolphins (2022). In 145 career games (106 starts), Ingram has 407 tackles, 81 TFLs, 57 sacks, three interceptions, 16 forced fumbles and nine fumble recoveries – two of which went for touchdowns.
