Kieran Maguire can’t believe Manchester United’s takeover twist – ‘there’s a massive negative,’ he says.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s bid to buy a 25% share in Manchester United ‘doesn’t make any logical sense,’ according to the BBC.

That’s according to finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Ratcliffe becoming the favorite to buy Manchester United.

According to BBC Sport, Sheikh Jassim has withdrew from the Man United purchase process, leaving Ratcliffe as the favorite to buy the club.

While Qatar sought to buy all of United’s stock, Ratcliffe’s latest offer is for a 25% interest.

According to Football Insider, Ratcliffe’s latest plan would put him in charge of Old Trafford until 2026.

Maguire was perplexed by Ratcliffe’s latest offer, implying that the 70-year-old should not postpone taking over.

“The Glazers are no doubt very greedy, and they want to maximize their return,” Maguire told Sean Fisher of Football Insider.

“However, we must exercise caution when referring to the Glazers as if they are a hive mind.

“In reality, there are very different perspectives – Darcy has no interest in football and just happened to inherit this windfall.”

“Meanwhile, Avram and Joel are eager to have a more hands-on approach, so they’re probably asking for too much because they don’t need to sell.”
