Match preview: Liverpool vs. Everton: team news, lineups, TV, kick-off time, referee, and VAR

Liverpool will face the pain of the early kick-off once again, as the Reds welcome Everton to Anfield for the first Merseyside derby of the season this Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp will face the Saturday lunchtime kickoff right after the international break for the second time this season, and if that wasn’t enough, the Manchester City game after the November break is also set for that time window, making it three out of three for the Reds. That seems reasonable.

Despite the game’s terrible timing, Liverpool will be looking to use their bitter rivals as a punching bag in order to make a statement that the title battle is still alive and well, after taking just one point from the previous two league games.

Liverpool have a terrific record at Anfield against their footballing neighbors, but as the old adage goes, “never back the early kick-off,” and victory is far from certain.

That being said, here’s all you need to know about the game.

Liverpool and Everton are two of the most powerful clubs in English football, and the fixture list reflects that: the two sides have met a total of 293 times in all competitions.

The Reds have won 124 of those matches, drew 86 and losing 83, and while derby day used to be a close affair every time, the margin between the two Merseyside clubs has never been wider.
