A recent transfer update suggests that Liverpool and the player are in direct touch over a high-profile transfer for 2024.
The Reds have been playing incredibly well lately; they have had a great start to the season and appear to be a completely different club than the one that suffered so much the previous year. Liverpool’s redesigned midfield has played a major role in that; manager Jurgen Klopp was well aware that he needed younger, more dynamic options there following the 2022–2023 season, when players like Jordan Henderson and Fabinho battled mightily to cover ground.
The Reds have looked like Premier League title contenders since adding players like Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch, but it doesn’t mean that more signings in other areas aren’t needed going forward.
Despite their depth up front, Liverpool has surprisingly been linked to a number of attacking players, including Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich and Nico Williams, a young player from Athletic Bilbao. It would be surprising if they didn’t at least consider entering the transfer market once the January window opens in January.
An intriguing update appears to indicate that there may be movement on another Reds target.
