The Cleveland Browns are hoping to use this week to get healthy for the postseason, but several players were added to the injury report Thursday as they prepare to face the Cincinnati Bengals.
There is no word yet on whether this is an actual injury or part of the Browns’ plan to stay healthy. Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin was added to the injury report after being limited by a knee problem. Safety Juan Thornhill is back on the injury report with a calf problem that has limited his participation. Linebacker Jordan Kunaszyk did not participate and was listed with a calf injury. He was ruled out for several weeks with an ankle injury. Defensive end Shelby Harris is out with a back injury and Duron Harmon was limited with a sprained ankle Wednesday but did not practice at all Thursday. Safety Juan Thornhill returns with a limited calf injury report that gave him the problem. It could be a maintenance period and this was a way to help them manage and solve the problems they were facing. However, if this is a new problem, the Browns could be even more limited in games as they try to get back healthy. The Browns would like to rest their defensive tackle, but they don’t have enough active players to do so. The Browns fiddled with the back safety devices. This is something you can control.Additionally, wide receiver Elijah Moore and tight end Ogbonnia Okoronkwo returned to practice in limited amounts Thursday. Left tackle Joel Bitonio, who was named to the Pro Bowl Wednesday night, and wide receiver Amari Cooper remain on the sidelines from injuries. Tight end David Njoku, who was also named to the Pro Bowl, returned to practice Wednesday from an illness but was limited. Conners Mike Ford Jr. (calf) and Greg Newsome II (knee), center Ethan Pocic (shoulder, sprain) and linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. He was ruled out with an injury (knee). Quarterback Joe Flacco, defensive end Myles Garrett and cornerback Denzel Ward are not expected to play in Sunday’s game and remain full participants in practice this week. Ja’Marr Chase was a full participant in Thursday’s practice and told local reporters he plans to play.Chase also had to show respect to the Browns, who called him 11 times a week ago. The Bengals may not have many games to play, but the loss leaves them with an 0-6 record in the AFC North and a 2-7 record against coach Zach Taylor’s Browns.Meanwhile, it appears Tee Higgins may miss his final game with the Bengals with a sprained ankle. Running back Joe Mixon missed practice due to an illness.Cornerbacks Chidobe Awuzie (shoulder) and Jalen Davis (groin) were both limited Thursday. Jake Browning has been added to the injury report with a foot problem, but has been fully contributing.
