Alan Hutton, a former full-back for Aston Villa, is joining us as our exclusive columnist. He will provide his opinions on the most talked-about topics at Villa Park every week.
Alan Hutton is overjoyed to learn that Omari Kellyman, who has made multiple appearances in Unai Emery’s first team this season, is “making waves” in the Aston Villa junior setup.
Kellyman, 18, is seen as having a bright future. In August, the Europa Conference League team defeated Hibernian 3-0 at home, and Kellyman made his senior debut.
After recording an assist in that match, he came off the bench for his second senior appearance on September 27 in the Carabao Cup loss to Everton.
People close to the Derby-born England Under-19 international “describe his progress over the past year as exceptional,” according to a report published in The Athletic on October 18.
After learning of Kellyman’s progress, Hutton is thrilled to see his old club provide a platform for a new generation of gifted youth.
A few young players truly stood out during preseason play with the first squad, Hutton told Villa News.
This is the desired outcome. Most clubs give you the impression that they could do better in terms of youth development. We hope to see these young, gifted players succeed.
