The Brooklyn Nets desperately needed a big win and that’s exactly what they got Wednesday night in the desert.
In their first games in Phoenix since being traded from the Suns to the Nets in January, Cam Johnson and Mikal Bridges combined for 36 points, eight rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks to lead Brooklyn’s 116-112 win over Phoenix .Kevin Durant scored 27 points in his first game against his former team, but only scored 1 of 5 from downtown. Durant praised Brooklyn for the way they defended him on Wednesday. Cam Thomas was the Nets’ leading scorer on Wednesday, dropping 24 points on 6-of-17 shooting, four assists and two rebounds. Thomas, who learned a lot from Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in Brooklyn, talked about a funny moment he shared with the former Nets star before the game. When reporters asked after the game about his game-sealing free throws, Thomas said, “They’re free throws, I wanted to make them… It’s nothing.” The prolific young scorer certainly doesn’t lack confidence, which Brooklyn fans and staff undoubtedly appreciate.Suns fans loved Johnson and Bridges when they were in Phoenix and were sad to see them go. From the looks of it, these two forwards had fun in Arizona and showed the fans some love after the win. When will KD return to Brooklyn? The Suns will travel to Brooklyn on January 31 for the triumphant return of Kevin Durant. When Durant left Oklahoma City to play for Golden State, he received huge boos in his first game at Oklahoma. It won’t happen on the last day of January at the Barclays Center. Nets fans loved Durant when he lived in the Big Apple and can’t help but appreciate the way he performed there, even though he requested a trade to Brooklyn.
