Pedro Neto is wanted by Arsenal, but Wolverhampton Wanderers would seek £60 million for him, according to sources. It’s no secret that Neto, who leads the Premier League in assists this year, is a target for the Gunners. The winger was connected to a summer transfer, and reports surfaced again as the window closed.
Mikel Arteta’s comments earlier this year about needing “two quality players per position” caused a stir – namely in the goalkeeping department. Bringing David Raya in to replace Aaron Ramsdale has caused friction among supporters, some of whom believe the latter was unfairly dropped following his heroics last season.
With Arteta’s stance in mind, signing someone to compete with Bukayo Saka appears a natural avenue. Reiss Nelson is the only alternative on the right flank, with Gabriel Jesus deputising there on occasion.
Signing Neto would give Arsenal a more well-rounded frontline and more options to compete both domestically and in Europe. A hamstring injury has derailed the Portuguese star’s campaign in recent weeks but Wolves boss Gary O’Neil revealed on Thursday he should return soon.
Arsenal will have to pay a sizable sum if they want to force the player to leave. The 23-year-old, who joined Wolves from Braga four years ago, is crucial to the team’s prospects. His contract is set until 2027.
