Injury Scare: Manchester City midfielder receives ‘two to three week’ diagnosis on quad injury…

Mateo Kovacic has learned of an important development about the injury that necessitated his absence from Croatia’s international matches last week.

Despite just playing in the last few minutes of the thrilling 4–4 tie with Chelsea in the last game before the current international break, the summer acquisition is rumored to have suffered an injury in the dying stages of the match.

Following the Manchester City match at Stamford Bridge, Kovacic became one of three first-team players from the Manchester City squad to cancel their international obligations. The other two players were Ederson and Nathan Ake.

While some believe that a number of injuries could be only short-term, and as such see names return in time for this weekend’s Premier League clash with Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium, a new update has shone light on a more serious problem concerning Mateo Kovacic.

That is according to the information of The Athletic’s Sam Lee, who states that Manchester City’s Croatian midfielder is ‘likely’ to miss ‘two to three weeks’ of action after suffering a recurrence of a quad injury.

Mateo Kovacic, 29, “felt a muscle,” according to Croatian head coach Zlatko Dalic, who stated that Kovacic had stayed in Manchester for an examination. According to Lee, City anticipates learning the entire nature of Kovacic’s injury this week.

Mateo Kovacic is one of several Manchester City midfielders who are now undergoing treatment. Kevin De Bruyne is still recuperating from a hamstring issue that required surgery in the summer.

The Belgium international could make a return to full first-team training in the coming weeks, with a view towards returning to competitive match action in late December or early in the new calendar year when Manchester City travel to Newcastle United in the Premier League.
