Tottenham have made a superb start to life in the Premier League this season and could now look to bolster their squad by signing Kalvin Phillips.
Phillips is struggling for minutes at Manchester City and with the Euros coming up next summer, knows full well he needs to be playing to try and get in the squad
A number of clubs are thought to be keen on taking Phillips and according to reports from Italy this weekend, Tottenham are one of them.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are the latest club to add Phillips to their wish list.
The Turin giants are also looking at Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg but are said to be keen on City’s Phillips as well.
However, the same report mentions both Tottenham and Newcastle as being keen on Phillips as well.
Crucially, it’s claimed Spurs will make a move for a midfielder as they lose both Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma in January due to the African Cup of Nations.
Ange Postecoglou will be keen to minimise the impact of that loss and will see Phillips as an experienced and quality player who can step in immediately.
Phillips, who joined City for around £45m, was keen to prove himself at The Etihad. However, it’s becoming more apparent he won’t be featuring and a move now seems likely.
If Sarr and Bissouma are both jetting off for a few weeks then it’s going to be imperative that Tottenham don’t feel that too much.
Signing someone like Kalvin Phillips would definitely help bridge the gap and would prevent the midfield from suddenly looking lightweight.
With Phillips, Spurs would be getting a player with considerable experience in the middle of the park as well as the quality which has seen him become an England regular.
Certainly, out of all the midfielders available for Tottenham, Phillips is one of the best they can move for.
