TRADE UPDATE: Vitor Pereira is hired as Wolverhampton Wanderers’ next head coach.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced the appointment of Vitor Pereira as their new head coach on an 18-month deal.

“We are thrilled to welcome Vitor Pereira to Wolves as the head coach of our men’s first team,” said Chairman Jeff Shi in a statement on Thursday.

“Vitor is a highly regarded and experienced coach who has enjoyed success in various leagues and will bring a fresh perspective to the challenges ahead,” he added.

Pereira, a two-time Portuguese league champion with Porto (2012, 2013) and winner of the 2015 Greek Super League and Cup with Olympiakos, has also managed teams such as Fenerbahce, Shanghai Port, El-Ahli, and Corinthians.

The 56-year-old takes over from Gary O’Neil following Wolves’ 2-1 defeat to Ipswich, leaving the team in 19th place in the Premier League table with nine points.
