Taylor Hall has faced a challenging season in Chicago. He started the year as a healthy scratch under former Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson, was later demoted to the fourth line by interim coach Anders Sorensen, and now finds himself the subject of trade rumors.
“It’s a business, and we’ll see what happens,” Hall told reporters on Wednesday. “I don’t have a lot of clarity on the situation right now. There’s a lot of moving parts with our team and the direction they’re trying to take.”
A veteran of 15 NHL seasons, Hall has been traded four times during his career—to the New Jersey Devils, Arizona Coyotes, Boston Bruins, and most recently to the Blackhawks following the Bruins’ record-setting 65-win season in 2022-23. Hall is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the current season, so he’s no stranger to the uncertainties of the trade process.
The Blackhawks, sitting at the bottom of the NHL standings with a 14-28-2 record, face a pivotal decision ahead of the March 7 trade deadline. Despite the speculation, Hall expressed a desire to remain with the organization long-term, though he acknowledged the unpredictable nature of the league.
“There’s always a bright side and something positive to look forward to,” Hall said. “When you’re in a contract year, you know things can go in many different directions. I’m ready for anything. My wife is always up for an adventure, so whether it’s here or somewhere else, we’ll make it work.”
Hall emphasized his commitment to the game and his team. “I’m trying to maintain the best attitude I can,” he said. “I’ll always be a good pro, work hard, and enjoy playing with these guys. At the end of the day, we’ll just have to see how things unfold.”
