Shemar Moore, known for his role on S.W.A.T., has found joy in his family life but remains unconvinced about marriage. At 54, Moore welcomed his first child, daughter Frankie, in January 2023 with his girlfriend, Jesiree Dizon, 41. Despite their deep connection, Moore reveals that marriage has never been part of his vision, citing his upbringing and personal beliefs as reasons for his hesitation.
“I didn’t grow up with strong examples of marriage,” Moore shared. “Neither my mother nor my father showed me what a healthy marriage could be. I’ve always questioned the idea—why do we need a piece of paper to prove our love? And why do prenups even exist if trust is so central to marriage?” For Moore, the focus is on living fully in the present with Dizon and their daughter, Frankie. “Jesiree is my partner, the mother of my child, and I’ll give her everything I have today and tomorrow. We’ll keep building our family until our time comes.”
Beyond his role as a father to Frankie, Moore embraces his place in the lives of Dizon’s two children from previous relationships, Charli and Kaiden. While he respects their biological fathers, Moore is committed to mentoring and protecting the children. “I want to give Jesiree and all the kids the best life, not just in material terms, but by keeping them safe and helping them believe in themselves. Watching them grow and succeed is my priority,” he said.
Despite his joy as a father, Moore admits he carries guilt for not starting a family sooner, especially before his mother, Marilyn Joan Wilson-Moore, passed away in 2020. Marilyn, who battled multiple sclerosis and a heart condition, always dreamed of becoming a grandmother. “I feel selfish for putting my career and social life first,” Moore confessed. However, he finds comfort in Frankie, who he believes carries a piece of his mother’s spirit. “She walks just like my mom,” he shared fondly. “Jesiree thinks it’s just a baby walk, but I see my mom’s little waddle in her every step.”
For Moore, family is about love, support, and creating a safe space—not a marriage certificate. His journey into fatherhood and his role as a partner highlight his dedication to those he holds dear, proving that commitment comes in many forms.
