Road block after multi-vehicle crash on A96

Following a five-vehicle collision that resulted in lengthy traffic lines, a crucial trunk road has reopened.

The collision happened on the A96 just west of Elgin heading towards Alves at approximately 2:15 p.m. today.

In a social media post, Traffic Scotland reported that the A96 was closed westbound heading out of Elgin due to a “multi-vehicle collision.”

According to an update, there was “heavy” traffic in the area, and police were present.

At 3:07 p.m. today, however, the spokesman stated that although the road was now open westbound, it remained “restricted” going east into Elgin.

The vehicles have since been recovered, according to a Police Scotland spokesperson.
