The Parramatta Eels are taking steps to solidify Mitchell Moses’ future with the club by initiating discussions to remove key clauses from his contract. These clauses give Moses the option to leave at the end of the 2026 season, but their removal could ensure that the star halfback concludes his career as an Eel. This move reflects the club’s commitment to retaining one of its most valuable players during a time of transition.
Moses, the team’s marquee player, has been at the center of speculation in recent months, fueled by significant changes within the Eels’ roster. The departure of coach Brad Arthur and the exits of long-time teammates Clint Gutherson and Reagan Campbell-Gillard created uncertainty about Moses’ own future. Adding to the intrigue, he was linked to a surprising potential move to the Sydney Roosters earlier this year. However, Eels CEO Jim Sarantinos quickly dismissed these rumors, reiterating Moses’ commitment to the club.
Having extended his contract in May, Moses currently holds a deal that includes player options for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. Now entering his 12th year in the NRL, the 225-game veteran is nearing the twilight of his career. The Eels’ efforts to secure him for the long term underline their intent to build a stable core around the playmaker. Moses, meanwhile, remains focused on leading the team back to the Grand Final, a feat last achieved in 2022, and clinching his first premiership victory.
Earning approximately $1.2 million annually, Moses has enjoyed a standout year on and off the field. He played a key role in the NSW Blues’ 2024 State of Origin triumph and was instrumental in the Australian Kangaroos’ victory in the Pacific Championships. As the Eels look to strengthen their squad and move past recent challenges, keeping Moses at the helm is seen as a critical step in achieving their long-term g
oals.
