Leeds United’s Ethan Ampadu, Dan James and Joe Rodon are preparing for two do or die fixtures while on international duty with Wales. The trio have all left Daniel Farke’s Whites camp this week in order to link up with their national team and it’s fair to say the pressure is on as Wales’ Euro 2024 qualifying campaign comes to a dramatic end.
Rob Page’s side currently occupy the last qualification spot in Group D, having seen leaders Turkey claim their spot at next summer’s tournament last month. However, they know only two wins over the next few days against Armenia and Turkey will be enough to guarantee their own spot at the tournament.
The Welsh know their fate is in their own hands, then, but they also know that anything other than six points could open the door for Croatia to take the last available qualification spot. Both sides have managed to rack up 10 points but as it stands Wales hold the superior position on head-to-head points, having seen off Croatia last month in Cardiff.
Charlie Cresswell is another who will be looking to be involved on the international stage today. The defender has struggled for game time with Leeds this season but he’s been a regular in the England U21s set-up and he’ll be keen to play a part as England take on Serbia in Backa Topola.
The young Lions, who thumped Serbia 9-1 in October, will fancy their chances of picking up three more points and having lost to Ukraine in their first Euro 2025 qualifying fixture, they have some ground to make up.
