The Gers defeated the Jambos 3-1 at the national stadium 24 hours after Aberdeen had overcome Hibs at Hampden.

With a James Tavernier double stealing the headlines on the Sunday, it was Aberdeen forward Bojan Miovski hauling the Dons to the final on Saturday evening.

Now, both sides are set to contest the 2023 Scottish League Cup Final and here is everything you need to know about the clash in Glasgow’s southside.

When is Rangers v Aberdeen Scottish Cup Final?

Rangers will play Aberdeen at Hampden on Sunday 17th December as the two sides battle it out for the Scottish League Cup.

Whilst a kick off time is yet to be confirmed, last season’s League Cup Final kicked off at 3pm.

The match will be broadcast exclusively by title sponsor Viaplay – the Scottish League Cup is currently known as the Viaplay Cup for sponsorship reasons – which is a subscription-based sports channel.

Too early for ticket details

With the match over a month away, everything concerning allocations, ticket pricing and the SPFL will come out in due course.

When the allocations are provided, the onus will be on Rangers and Aberdeen to disseminate the briefs with the Ibrox side’s tiered MyGers system sure to play a part.

What did the managers say?

Philippe Clement: “I’m really happy with that because it’s also well deserved and the players are working hard. I’m really happy from the first second that I stepped into this club, I feel this group of players, but also the staff around everybody in the club doing it, their maximum to to go my way to follow the story and they’re all working hard. So if you work hard, you need to get also some satisfaction after, and an evening like this. It’s very important in that way. So the players can be satisfied this evening and happy and enjoy their time with the family. But from tomorrow I expect everybody to be focused again towards Prague because that’s football. Okay, we are in the final, but if you are in a final or a semi-final or a quarter-final, it doesn’t make a difference at the end. It’s about winning something. We’re not there yet.”

Barry Robson: “I’m so proud of my players. We’ve played four games in nine days, had a day’s less rest than Hibs and to fight and show that shows me the spirit and determination we’ve got. It’s been difficult. We had to be tactically clever as we can’t go out and go after them as we’d like to. It’s impossible. To show that character and spirit is everything and so much more than talent and ability. Coming of the back of all those travels, what a performance that is from my players. We’ve got to believe. We believe just now. We’re trying our best. You can never get carried away in football. I’m a winner, I want my team to win and we’ll look forward to the final. But we’ve got lots of huge games to play before that. This is where we want to be, the underdog in these huge, massive games.”
