Lionel Messi started for Inter Miami against Charlotte FC on Saturday for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in late September.
Messi returned to the MLS on October 7 against FC Cincinnati, but only played 35 minutes. Despite his return, Inter Miami failed to produce a winning performance. Instead, Charlotte took the points and qualified for the MLS Playoffs, where they will be the 9th seed and play-in against the New York Red Bulls.
Kerwin Vargas scored for Charlotte in the 13th minute, igniting the Bank of America Stadium crowd.
