The Miami Dolphins made a roster move to fill the linebacker position following Jerome Baker’s injury, and that meant bringing back a familiar name.
The Dolphins have signed linebacker Calvin Munson, bringing him back for the third time – and each time he comes directly from the New England Patriots, according to reports.Munson was taken off the Patriots’ practice squad on Saturday, just as he was in December 2019 before returning to New England and the Dolphins claimed him off waivers in December 2021.Munson has played 46 NFL games since entering the league in 2017, including 22 with the Dolphins. He started two games for Miami in 2019 before playing all 16 games in a reserve role in 2020.While he has only played four games over the last two seasons, Munson has plenty of experience with special teams. His signing comes after the Dolphins signed four linebackers this week, including former San Francisco 49ers first-round pick Reuben Foster. It’s possible that Munson ends up getting a significant role on special teams, as Duke Riley is usually one of the leaders in that area of the game, but he will now have to take on additional responsibilities at linebacker with Baker sidelined. separated by a knee injury at 45-15 – Victory against the Washington Commanders on Sunday.Head coach Mike McDaniel called Baker’s injury “week to week” earlier this week.
