JUST IN: Southampton warned by Italian pundit about Juric ‘Different worlds’

Italian Premier League pundit Massimo Marianella has expressed doubts about Ivan Juric’s suitability for Southampton, suggesting the Croatian coach and the struggling Premier League club operate in “different worlds.”

Juric, who recently terminated his contract with Roma, is reportedly set to join Southampton, though the club has yet to confirm the deal officially.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Marianella voiced his skepticism about the potential appointment, describing it as “very surprising.”

“They are in different worlds, so I don’t understand this choice,” Marianella said. “Southampton are known for their innovative approach and focus on developing young players through modern footballing ideas. Juric, on the other hand, represents something entirely different.”

He added: “Fear can drive contrasting decisions, and honestly, this feels like one of those cases. I struggle to make sense of it and would be very surprised if Southampton hired Juric.”

Juric’s stint at Roma ended in November after a turbulent two months in which he managed only four wins from 12 games, clashed with senior players, and ultimately lost the dressing room. Claudio Ranieri has since replaced him at the Serie A club.

Despite his disappointing tenure at Roma, Juric enjoyed a solid three-year spell at Torino, where he guided the team to within eight points of a European spot in the 2023-24 season.

The rumored appointment has sparked debate, with some questioning whether Juric’s approach and track record align with Southampton’s vision.
