JUST IN: Caitlin Clark sets Another record straight on her feud with Angel Reese

Caitlin Clark doesn’t understand why people think she has a feud with Angel Reese, despite their intense on-court battles over the years.

Clark and Reese have faced off at multiple levels, first in college with Iowa and LSU, and now as 2024 WNBA draftees, playing for the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky. Their matchups have been key in boosting the popularity of women’s basketball, with two of the four most-watched women’s basketball games ever featuring both players, all with Clark on the court.

“I don’t get that at all,” Clark told TIME regarding the supposed rivalry with Reese. “We’re not best friends, but we have a lot of respect for each other. We’ve had some intense games, but when have I ever guarded her, and when has she guarded me?”

The tension seemed to start after last year’s NCAA championship game, when Reese pointed to her ring finger in front of Clark as the game ended, signaling LSU’s national title win.

Clark remarked, “I didn’t think it was taunting. It didn’t bother me. It’s just like, ‘Why don’t you talk about them winning or the incredible run we had that no one expected?’ The only thing people focused on was a controversy that was blown out of proportion, and that’s been the narrative ever since.”
