ICYMI: Arizona State Sun Devils commit Former Alabama WR 2 Purdue DBs

Arizona State football has made significant upgrades on both sides of the ball through the transfer portal, most recently securing commitments from Alabama receiver Jaren Hamilton and Purdue cornerbacks Nyland Green and Kyndrich Breedlove, as reported by On3.com’s Hayes Fawcett.

Nyland Green, a former five-star recruit from the class of 2021 (per 247Sports), recorded 23 tackles, five pass breakups, and two sacks for Purdue last season after limited playing time at Georgia from 2021 to 2023. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Kyndrich Breedlove, a three-star recruit out of Nashville’s Pearl-Cohn High School (247Sports), posted 40 tackles, four pass breakups, and three interceptions for Purdue last season. He also has one year of eligibility left, having previously played at Ole Miss and Colorado.

Jaren Hamilton, a four-star prospect from the class of 2024 (ranked 35th among receivers by 247Sports), did not log any receptions during his time at Alabama. The Gainesville, Florida native, joins an offensive group that includes Army running back Kanye Udoh, who will compete for the starting role following Cam Skattebo’s departure for the NFL.

Additionally, the Sun Devils added Oregon defensive lineman My’Keil Gardner, Texas State offensive lineman Jimeto Obigbo, and Nebraska offensive lineman Xander Ruggeroli on Sunday.

Arizona State’s first wave of transfer additions this cycle included wide receiver Noble Johnson and kicker Jesús Gómez. The team has continued to strengthen its 2025 roster with the commitment of wide receiver Jalen Moss. Meanwhile, several Sun Devil players have entered the portal.

One departure is cornerback Laterrance Welch, who was dismissed from the team following accusations of stealing a watch from a teammate. Welch, a junior transfer from LSU, recorded 19 tackles, two interceptions, and nine pass breakups in nine games this season. He notably scored a pick-six against UCF but did not play in ASU’s Big 12 Championship win over Iowa State.

Head coach Kenny Dillingham has emphasized transparency with his players, allowing those entering the portal to remain part of the team during its playoff run, which concluded with a Peach Bowl appearance. Dillingham explained his approach, saying, “I wanted them to have the best chance to find a spot while staying with our team if they chose to. It’s about being fair to the players and giving them opportunities to succeed.”
