Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray has become subject to reported interest from Liverpool recently, but is likely to pen a fresh contract before offers emerge
It was a long time coming for Archie Gray to make his senior debut at Elland Road, despite being in the matchday squad around two years ago at 15 when Marcelo Bielsa was dealing with an injury crisis to end them all in the Premier League
The Daily Mail reported this month that Liverpool are one of three Premier League clubs that are looking to sign the 17-year-old midfielder at the end of this season.
Gray has been a star for Farke this term, but his current contract is due to expire in 2025, as he is unable to pen a long-term deal before his 18th birthday, which falls in March.
The above report claims that Leeds are asking for upwards of £40million for the midfielder’s signature if the Reds, Everton, or Crystal Palace follow up their preliminary interest.
Carlton Palmer makes big contract claim
Former Leeds man Carlton Palmer has now spoken to Football League World about Gray and the speculation around him, claiming that the player has told the club he will commit his future here.
“Leeds United are confident that Archie Gray will commit his future to the club, despite interest from top clubs at home and abroad.
“Leeds have slapped a whooping £30-40m price tag on the young man’s head. But in a massive boost for the club in their quest to reclaim their Premier League status once again, Gray has given the club the indication that he’s happy where he is, and wants to continue his footballing education at Leeds United under Daniel Farke.
“This is great news for the manager, the club and the supporters.”
