Ryan Jack started just his second league game of the season for Rangers against Dundee but his absence from the line-up has been through the preference rather than injury.
Ironically, it was injury to Nicolas Raskin that saw the Scotland international handed his chance at Dens Park and the 31-year old grabbed it with both hands.
A midfield pairing with John Lundstram didn’t look like the most dynamic and yet Ryan Jack was key in Rangers dominant display.

Ryan Jack can still have Rangers part to play
The biggest difference since Philppe Clement took charge has been mindset.
It isn’t as bad a squad as is being made out in some quarters even if the new Gers boss does have some holes to fill in the squad.
Both Lundstram and Ryan Jack are out of contract at the end of the season and, despite being in their 30’s, it can’t be ruled out that both of them will still be around next year.
Lundstram has, arguably, been Clement’s best player since arriving in Glasgow and if Jack can produce more displays like the one against Dundee then a new one-year deal should be on the table.
Football is about partnerships and James Tavernier’s best football has always been when he has had more protection on the right-hand
A job that Jack does almost naturally, as shown by his heat map.
There is a visible difference in intent too.
Lundstram’s drive in the build-up to Sam Lammers wonder strike was matched by Jack’s run to score the opening goal.
