A permanent Rangers move for summer loan signing and Brighton attacker Abdallah Sima has not yet been ruled out.
That’s according to the Scottish Sun, who claim that it remains “unclear” if Rangers will be able to make the form 22-year-old Senegalese striker’s stint in Glasgow permanent.
It comes after Abdallah Sima himself said “let’s see what happens” when pressed on his loan move following the 4-0 victory over Hibs at the weekend.
The former Slavia Prague striker continued his fine form with a double in Philippe Clement’s first match in charge, taking his tally for the season to nine.
It is also the fifth straight match that the forward has scored for Rangers and the loan signing of Abdallah Sima is beginning to look more and more like very good business indeed.
The Scottish Sun also reiterate that there is no option-to-buy in the loan deal to bring Abdallah Sima to Rangers from Brighton, something which was widely reported at the time of the switch.
This is in stark contrast to the situation with Bayern Munich talent Malik Tillman, who was at the centre of a tug-of-war due to an apparently “exclusive” option held by Rangers.
As things transpired, the Bundesliga giants would activate a buyback clause in the player’s contract, compensating Rangers for their decision to rip the loan option up.
he situation with Tillman means Rangers have been bitten in the loan market before and no-one will be getting carried away when it comes to Abdallah Sima.
But the striker’s impressive form has caught the eye of new manager Philippe Clement who hinted that the best is yet to come for the Senegalese striker in Glasgow
Abdallah Sima] is a really interesting player for how we want to play and he can take a big step forward this year,” Clement said.
Brighton paid a reported £7m to sign Abdallah Sima from Slavia Prague in 2021 but the loan Ranger is yet to play a game for the Premier League side.
Since moving to the AMEX, Sima has spent stints on loan with English Championship side Stoke City and Angers in French Ligue 1.
The attacker has also been earning the plaudits of his Rangers teammates.
