COMMITMENT: Nebraska 4-star wide receiver confirmed to de-commit with team

Nebraska wide receiver Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda has announced his intention to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. After spending three seasons at Nebraska, Garcia-Castaneda previously played two seasons at New Mexico State and one year at Saddleback College.

This season, Garcia-Castaneda appeared in all 13 of Nebraska’s games, recording a single catch for 10 yards. Across his three seasons with the Cornhuskers, he totaled seven receptions for 137 yards and one touchdown.

During his time at New Mexico State, Garcia-Castaneda played in 12 games over two seasons. At Saddleback College, he had an impressive campaign, hauling in 56 passes for 953 yards and 13 touchdowns. He scored a touchdown in 10 consecutive games and earned all-conference honors. The 6-foot-1 wideout played high school football at Twentynine Palms High School in California and was an unranked recruit according to the On3 Industry Ranking, which aggregates data from major recruiting services.

Garcia-Castaneda becomes the 26th Nebraska player to enter the transfer portal this offseason. Meanwhile, Nebraska has brought in 16 players via the portal, placing them 38th in On3’s 2025 Team Transfer Portal Rankings. Notably, wide receivers Dane Key and Nyziah Hunter headline Nebraska’s incoming transfer class, potentially impacting Garcia-Castaneda’s playing opportunities and contributing to his decision to transfer.

Nebraska concluded its 2024 season with a 7-6 record under head coach Matt Rhule, who is in his second year leading the program. The Cornhuskers capped the season with a 20-15 victory over Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl. Following the game, Rhule emphasized the importance of the win in preparing the team for the future, highlighting the development of young players who gained valuable experience during the season.

The transfer portal opened on Dec. 7 and closed on Dec. 28, with additional opportunities for postseason teams to enter the portal within five days of their season’s conclusion. Stay updated on player movements through On3’s Transfer Portal wire and their social media accounts.
