Portuguese international midfielder Ruben Neves has been linked with a return to the Premier League.
A report from Team Talk claims that Tottenham Hotspur are ‘extremely keen’ on signing the central midfielder and they will face competition from clubs like Arsenal and Newcastle United.
The midfielder completed a £47 million move to Saudi Arabia at the start of the season but he is keen on a return to England after just six months with Al-Hilal. It remains to be seen whether the Saudi Arabian outfit are prepared to let him return to the Premier League on a six-month loan move.
Tottenham Hotspur could certainly use a quality central midfielder like him and he could be the ideal short-term replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg if the Danish international leaves the club in January.
In addition to that, Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma will be away on international duty because of the African Cup of Nations and Tottenham need to bring in quality alternatives.
The North London outfit have started this season well and they are currently fourth in the league table. They will want you to secure Champions League qualification and they cannot afford to weaken the squad in the coming months.
Neves knows the league well and he should be able to make an immediate impact. He is an exceptional passer from the deep and he will help out defensively as well. In addition to that, the 26-year-old has a knack for chipping in with important goals from the long range.
He would certainly add a new dimension to the Tottenham midfield and signing a player of his quality on loan for the second half of the campaign could prove to be a shrewd investment.
