Former Texas A&M standout Martellus Bennett played a key role in one of the most unforgettable Super Bowl victories in history.
Bennett was part of the New England Patriots’ roster for Super Bowl LI, the legendary game in which the Atlanta Falcons led 28-3 before the Patriots mounted a historic comeback to win 34-28 in overtime. This victory marked the fifth of six Super Bowl titles the Patriots secured with Tom Brady at quarterback.
According to Pennsylvania-based Hunt Auctions, Bennett’s Super Bowl ring was recently sold at auction for $88,125. The impressive piece drew significant attention.
For context, Bennett contributed five receptions for 62 yards in that game.
Looking ahead to this year’s Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles will face the Kansas City Chiefs at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday. The major storyline centers on Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ pursuit of history, as they aim to become the first NFL team to win three consecutive Super Bowls. However, the Eagles will be determined to halt their run.
A Chiefs victory would give Mahomes his fourth Super Bowl title in just eight seasons, bringing him within three championships of Brady’s record seven.
