Spanish outlet Vamos Mi Sevilla FC, as relayed by Sport Witness, claims that Sevilla FC are monitoring Nathan Patterson ahead of the summer transfer window. The Everton FC right-back has reportedly been placed high on the wishlist of Sevilla sporting director Antonio Cordón, who sees the 24-year-old Scotland national football team international as a potential addition for next season.
Sevilla Target Nathan Patterson as Summer Plans Take Shape
According to the report, Patterson is one of two leading options Sevilla are considering, with Juan Iglesias of Getafe CF also firmly on their radar. Iglesias is set to become a free agent in June. Interest in Patterson is not entirely new either. The clubs were previously linked in January when Everton were said to have proposed a deal worth around €15m plus a loan move for Patterson in an attempt to sign Juanlu Sánchez, Sevilla’s highly rated young defender. That transfer never materialised after Juanlu chose to remain in Spain, but Cordón has apparently continued tracking Patterson’s situation.
Sevilla’s interest is largely tied to financial realities. The club are planning to sell both Juanlu and José Ángel Carmona during the summer in order to generate funds. Doing so would leave manager Matías Almeyda in need of affordable reinforcements at right-back. Reports indicate the Spanish side already have a verbal agreement in place with Iglesias and see Patterson as the ideal complementary option, although they are expected to prefer a loan deal to keep costs under control.
Should Everton Sell Rather Than Loan?
That scenario presents David Moyes with a decision. Patterson has played just 355 minutes across seven appearances this season, which highlights his current standing in the squad. With his contract running until 2027 and a market valuation of around €10 million, Everton still hold some leverage if a permanent offer arrives.
Allowing him to leave on loan, as Sevilla would prefer, offers limited immediate benefit. Everton would not receive a transfer fee straight away and would temporarily lose a player they could potentially sell outright.
Patterson’s qualities are clear. He brings pace, intensity in transition, and the ability to deliver dangerous crosses from deeper areas. Yet with Everton trying to push forward in a new era at Bramley‑Moore Dock Stadium, turning a fringe squad member valued at around €10m into instant transfer revenue could prove the more practical option.
