Last year, Antonio Rudiger made a free transfer from Chelsea to Real Madrid. The German international did not enjoy a fairytale start to life in Spain, despite being one of the best center halves in the world during his time in London. Carlo Ancelotti’s confidence in the player was undeniable because he regularly played off the bench. But it was obvious that the coach preferred starting with Eder Militao and David Alaba.
According to the report, Ancelotti always had confidence in the German international but first allowed Rudiger some time to adjust before gradually increasing his playing time as Rudiger grew in size.
Now, Ancelotti absolutely trusts Rudiger, according to reports from MARCA. The defender has earned his newfound confidence thanks to his numerous on-field successes. The coach also appreciates Rudiger’s leadership in the locker room and the fervor with which he plays and defends the Real Madrid crest.
Rudiger’s performance against Napoli, in which he dominated Victor Osimhen, demonstrated the full potential of the Real Madrid defender.
With Eder Militao injured, Ancelotti has opted to use Rudiger alongside Alaba as his starting combination.
